JMHA Recommended Trainers

All of the trainers here have worked directly with JMHA, gentling a number of mustangs to prepare them for adoption. Read the profile to see each trainer's area of expertise and determine which will be the right fit for working with you and your horse.

Delaws Lindsay

Bloomfield, N.M.

Delaws is an excellent teacher who happens to train horses.  With plenty of experience gentling dozens of horses, Delaws' greatest talent is teaching people how to train their own horses.  If you want a trainer to start your mustang on the path to trusting people, or if you are looking for personal lessons that will empower you to work with your own horse, Delaws is the trainer you are looking for.

Katie Johanson

Ignacio, Co.

Katie's gentle training and confident riding is what has made her our top colt starter. Katie is known for putting a trusting relationship first when she is introducing a horse to being ridden.  If you are looking to have your mustang started under saddle, Katie can do that and so much more to help you build the partner you have been dreaming about.

Heidi Heishman

Farmington N.M.

Heidi's experience in the discipline of dressage has given her the sensitivity and techniques to tailor a training program to make nearly any horse successful. Being very skilled at building connection she understands the importance of an excellent foundation for all horses, but especially the mustangs. She is capable of gentling a wild horse and advancing them to a level of excellence.

Beckah Larsen

Bloomfield, N.M.

Beckah's background in studying horse psychology makes her a great problem solver who can find the holes in a horse's training or mend a horse's broken trust.  Her background in teaching elementary school helps her to teach people how to employ psychology in training their own horses.

You Can Help!

The mustang is a living piece of American history that needs support, now, more than ever.
We can only continue growing with the help of our suporters.  Every small contribution is a big help.
Thank you for caring about our wild horses.
